Hurricane, Flash Flood Warning and Tornado Watch issued for Kauaʻi: NWS

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A hurricane and flash flood warning, as well as a Tornado Watch, are in effect for Kauaʻi due to Hurricane Lowell.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Oʻahu.

In the latest update from the National Weather Service, Lowell was about 170 miles southwest of Lihue and 230 miles southwest of Honolulu.

NWS said "dangerous conditions expected for Niihau, Kauai, and Oahu, with flash flooding, damaging waves, and high winds expected from Lowell." The storm is a category 2 hurricane as of 5 p.m., and moving north-northeast near 18 mph.
