Tornado Watch issued for parts of the southwest

Environment Canada has issued a Tornado Watch for a portion of southwestern Manitoba including the Melita, Waskada, Deloraine and Boissevain areas.

"A line of showers has developed in southeast Saskatchewan this afternoon and is moving to the east," noted the Watch.

"It is along this line where a tornado may form." In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area: go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet.

Tornado watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes.
