Areas of heavy rain have been moving over Kauai from southeast to northwest over the past couple of hours with rain rates around 1 to 2 inches per hour. Water levels at the Hanalei River gage upstream of the bridge have risen significantly over the past hour and flooding is expected further downstream toward Hanalei town, including portions of Kuhio Highway near the bridge
