Body Found in Trash Can at Houston Apartment Complex, Police Question 2 People

Houston police are investigating after a person was found dead inside a trash can at an apartment complex in the city’s Third Ward on Sunday, September 6.

Officers responded to Anita Street after receiving reports of gunfire and someone attempting to place a body inside a trash can, according to the Houston Police Department.

Blood Trail Leads Police to Apartment

When officers arrived, investigators found the body inside a trash can in the apartment complex parking lot.

Police also discovered a trail of blood leading from the area to an apartment.

Authorities said it was not immediately clear how the victim died. Investigators were unable at the scene to determine whether the person suffered a gunshot wound, blunt-force trauma or another type of injury.

Two People Being Questioned

Police forced entry into the apartment after a person inside refused to come out and took that individual into custody.

Investigators are also questioning a second person in connection with the case.

Both are currently being treated as persons of interest, and police said no arrests had been announced as the investigation continued.

The identity of the person found dead has not yet been released.
