Suspect killed in Fort Myers, Florida police shooting, FMPD says

FORT MYERS, Florida — An early-morning call on Fort Myers’ Katherine Street led to police firing shots and a dead suspect, police said.

The Fort Myers Police Department got a call for service at about 5:48 a.m. Saturday, Sept.

5 in the 2300 block of Katherine Street, according to a news release from the police department. “The call led to an officer-involved shooting," the release said.

"The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where they later died.” The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the incident, the release said.
