A preliminary magnitude 3.4 earthquake struck Southern California at approximately 5:37 a.m. local time Tuesday.

Shallow Quake Recorded Near Fontana

The earthquake was centered about 17 kilometers southwest of Fontana and 10 kilometers south-southeast of Rancho Cucamonga.

It occurred at an estimated depth of 6.2 kilometers. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
