Life-Threatening Flash Flood Warning Issued for Pinal County, Arizona

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for part of Pinal County in southeastern Arizona after thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall across the area.

Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain had already fallen when the warning was issued at 8:52 p.m. MST, with up to another inch possible. Forecasters said life-threatening flash flooding was ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Maricopa, Estrella Sailport and Ak-Chin Village are among the locations that could be affected. The warning also covers sections of Arizona Routes 238 and 347 and the Vekol Wash drainage area.

Residents were urged to avoid flooded roads and move away from washes, creeks and other low-lying areas. The warning remains in effect until 12:45 a.m. MST.
