Life-Threatening Flash Flood Warning Issued for Maricopa County, Arizona

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for part of Maricopa County in south-central Arizona after thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall across the area.

Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain had already fallen, and life-threatening flash flooding was ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The damage threat was classified as considerable.

The warning includes Big Horn and Interstate 8 between mile markers 122 and 131, along with nearby creeks, washes, streets and underpasses.

Drivers were urged not to enter flooded roads and to turn around immediately when encountering high water. The warning remains in effect until 12:15 a.m. MST.
