Penobscot Volunteer, Maine Fire Dept. continues to put out hot spots in 5-acre wildfire

PENOBSCOT, Maine — Fire officials say Castine Road will be closed on Sunday while they continue to put out the fire.

Fire officials say they were still putting out hot spots on Sunday after crews spent hours containing a 5-acre wildfire near Dunbar Road and Castine Road.

Castine Road will likely close again during fire attack operations.

Penobscot Volunteer Fire Department says crews were called to the area just before noon on Saturday, and they encountered a rapidly expanding fire.
