Columbia, South Carolina officer killed in shooting after domestic disturbance call

Shooting: COLUMBIA, South Carolina — A South Carolina police officer died and a second was injured in a “gunfight” Saturday in a park, following a call about a domestic dispute, Columbia police Chief W.H.

“Skip” Holbrook said.

The Columbia Police Department said officers were dispatched at approximately 9 a.m. to Holstein Lane to a disturbance in progress where a woman told officers that a man she had a restraining order against was destroying her property, but when authorities arrived, the suspect had left the home.

Officers were given a description of the male suspect, identified as 33-year-old Adam Tyler Dowdy.
