BANDERA, Texas — BANDERA, Texas – A burn ban is now in effect in Bandera County as dry conditions increase the risk of fires spreading quickly.

Evacuations and firefighting response

The Bandera County Sheriff’s Office said the ban took effect Thursday, Aug. 27.

The sheriff’s office said if residents must burn household garbage, it must be contained in a burn barrel with a proper mesh cover.

Open burning is not allowed.

Officials warned that even a small fire can quickly get out of control in dry conditions, potentially threatening property and prompting a response from firefighters.

Wildfire location and conditions

Residents are being asked to avoid burning whenever possible and to use a disposal site instead of burning household trash.
