Man arrested in connection to deadly stabbing near library in New Haven, Connecticut

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut — A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly stabbing near a library in New Haven earlier this month.

Officers responded to a report of two men fighting across from the New Haven Public Library on Aug. 12, 2026, around 3 p.m.

When police arrived, they said they found 37-year-old Michael Spencer, of New Haven, with multiple stab wounds on the corner of Temple Street and Elm Street next to a CT Transit bus.
