Workers feel ‘vulnerable’ after East Oakland, California mass stabbing leaves one dead, four injured

EAST OAKLAND, California — The regular humdrum of commuting through Fruitvale BART Station continued Tuesday, less than 24 hours after a series of stabbings in a span of roughly 30 minutes left one person dead and four others wounded across the East Oakland neighborhood.
At a nearby market, Mohammed Aldhari said he was closing up Monday night when police cars and an ambulance surrounded the station.
A customer told him someone had been stabbed, he said Tuesday.
“There’s too many crimes around this area — robberies and fights,” said Aldhari, who works at Market One across the street from Fruitvale BART Station.
