Hawk, Nevada Fire tears through Reno area as officials say blaze was human-caused

RENO, Nevada — The Hawk Fire near Reno, Nevada , has grown to about 15,000 acres and remains 0% contained as of Monday morning, with tens of thousands of residents still under evacuation orders or warnings.

The fire, which began Saturday near Peavine Peak northwest of Reno, has been driven by strong, shifting winds and dry conditions.

About 42,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, while another 45,000 are under evacuation warnings, according to The Associated Press.

At least six people — three civilians and three first responders — have been injured, officials said.
