Atlanta, Georgia mayor demands action after deadly Beltline stabbing

ATLANTA, Georgia — ATLANTA – Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is demanding a review of security on the Atlanta Beltline and answers about how a convicted felon with dozens of previous arrests was once again in a position to endanger the public following a deadly stabbing Sunday.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fatal Atlanta Beltline stabbing: Felon with 30 arrests named suspect Dickens issued a statement after seeing video of the attack, which left a 29-year-old man dead and led to the arrest of 54-year-old Johnathan Hamby.

"Atlantans and visitors should be able to enjoy the BeltLine safely," Dickens said.

The mayor said he has directed Atlanta's public safety and Beltline teams to review safety protocols surrounding the attack, including patrols, camera coverage and emergency response.
