KCKPD: Person killed after officers respond to reports of shots fired

Officers say they were called to the area of Ohio Ave. and Mejak Ln. just after 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug.

23, after reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, KCKPD indicates that they found an armed individual. One person was shot and killed during the encounter.

As is standard procedure, KCKPD says it immediately notified the KBI, which is now leading the investigation. The incident remains under investigation as of Sunday morning.
