Madison, Wisconsin council schedules discussion on response after Corey Ruiz shooting

MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Common Council will hold a virtual public discussion Monday at 5 p.m. to examine the city’s response in the days and weeks after Corey Ruiz was fatally shot. The briefing will focus on the city’s response to protesters, as well as the reopening of Willy and Baldwin streets.

Representatives from the Madison Police Department, Public Health Madison & Dane County and the Office of the Independent Police Monitor are expected to participate. The meeting is a briefing session only. The council will not take votes or other formal action. The public can watch the discussion live on Madison City Channel or YouTube.
