Tornado Warning Issued for Kingstown, Millington and Sudlersville, Maryland, Until 6 PM EDT

KINGSTOWN, Md. — A tornado warning has been issued for Kingstown, Millington, Sudlersville and nearby communities in northeastern Maryland until 6 p.m. EDT Thursday.

The warning covers northeastern Queen Anne’s County and east-central Kent County.

Storm moving east at 35 mph

At 5:30 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Church Hill, approximately 11 miles north of Centreville.

The storm was moving east at 35 mph.

Radar indicated rotation within the storm. Pea-sized hail is also possible.

Communities in the warning area

Locations in or near the storm’s path include Kingstown, Millington, Sudlersville, Chestertown, Massey, Crumpton and Morgnec.

Residents should take shelter immediately and should not wait to see or hear a tornado.

Take cover now

Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows.

People outdoors, inside mobile homes or traveling in vehicles should reach the nearest substantial shelter and protect themselves from flying debris.

The storm may damage roofs, windows, vehicles and mobile homes. Tree damage and power outages are also possible.
