Was Ministry of Climate Readiness ready: Latest Details
Firefighters were seen spraying homes in Summerland on the evening of Aug. 8 to defend them from the Bald Range wildfire. Was the initial response to the Bald Ridge wildfire on Aug. 8 the best B.C. could do, or did the Provincial government fail to prepare?
The response from B.C.’s Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness was not black-and-white. In an interview with The Herald, Minister Kelly Greene focused on the ways in which the government was prepared.
She said initial attack crews were pre-positioned in anticipation of the hot and dry conditions, and were able to respond to the fire within minutes of its discovery.
