Central City, Kentucky House Explosion Severely Burns Man and Damages 4 Homes

A house explosion in Central City, Kentucky, left one man with severe burns and damaged four neighboring homes Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the 400 block of North Fifth Street in Muhlenberg County following the residential explosion.

Man Taken to Trauma Center

Firefighters found an adult man suffering from severe burns and other significant injuries.

He was transported to a regional trauma center for treatment. His current condition was not immediately released.

Four Homes Damaged

The explosion and resulting fire damaged four additional homes, displacing their residents.

The American Red Cross is assisting those affected.

Investigation Underway

Firefighters contained the blaze but remained at the active scene.

The Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, and federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were expected to respond.

Authorities asked the public to avoid the area. The cause of the explosion remains unknown.
