Electric Vehicle Fire Forces Evacuation of California Home in Grass Valley

An electric vehicle fire inside a residential garage prompted the evacuation of a home in Grass Valley, California, Saturday morning as firefighters rushed to the scene.

Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 6:40 a.m. local time to Norlene Way in the Alta Sierra area after receiving reports of an electric car fire inside a garage.

Home Evacuated as Smoke Fills Vehicle and Garage

An update minutes later reported that the electric vehicle was full of smoke inside the garage, with responding units arriving at the property.

By approximately 6:45 a.m., the first unit at the scene confirmed smoke coming from the vehicle and garage and reported that the house had been evacuated.

Fire crews were working at the scene, and further information about damage or injuries was not immediately available.
