Woman Killed, Man Seriously Wounded in Durham, North Carolina Apartment Shooting

A woman was killed and a man was seriously wounded in a shooting at an apartment complex near downtown Durham, North Carolina, early Friday.

Shooting Near Golden Belt Campus

Durham police responded shortly after midnight to apartments near the Golden Belt Campus on East Main Street.

Officers arrived at approximately 12:40 a.m. and found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man remained hospitalized.

Major Police Investigation Underway

More than a dozen officers assisted with the investigation, while a police mobile command unit was deployed near the scene.

Crime-scene tape surrounded part of an apartment building and an adjacent parking lot. Authorities have not released information about a possible suspect or motive.
