Tornado Warning for Jefferson, Grand Junction and Churdan, Iowa, Continues Until 6:15 AM

A Tornado Warning remains in effect for Jefferson, Grand Junction, Churdan and surrounding areas in Greene County, Iowa, until 6:15 a.m. CDT Thursday.

The National Weather Service said radar continues to indicate possible tornado development within the warning area. Approximately 5,888 people, seven schools and one hospital could be exposed to the storm.

Other communities within or near the warned area include Paton, Dana, Farlin and Rippey. No significant hail is currently expected, but the tornado threat remains active.

Residents should immediately shelter in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows and protect your head and body from flying debris.

People in mobile homes, vehicles or outdoors should move to substantial shelter immediately and remain there until the warning expires or authorities issue an all-clear.
