Doral Police officer found dead in Southwest Miami-Dade; death investigation underway

MIAMI, Fla. — A Doral Police officer was found dead Wednesday morning in Southwest Miami-Dade, prompting a death investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the area of Southwest 157th Avenue and 160th Street shortly after 6:20 a.m., where they found an unresponsive man. A 7News source identified the deceased as a Doral Police officer.

Later in the morning, the officer’s body was transported under a police escort to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office, where dozens of law enforcement officers gathered to pay their respects.

The City of Doral confirmed that one of its officers had died but did not release additional details.

Authorities have not officially announced the cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
