Royston Car Crash: One Dead, Two Injured After Vehicle Hits House

A man has died and two others were seriously injured in a Royston car crash after a vehicle veered off the A505 and crashed into a house on Cromwell Way, early Friday morning.

Hertfordshire Police responded to the incident around 01:00 BST. Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured, though significant structural damage occurred.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

Emergency services remained on the scene for several hours, and a structural engineer was called to assess the safety of the damaged house. Police confirmed there were three men in the car—all seriously injured. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries.

Eyewitness Accounts of the Royston Crash

Local resident Sue Brew, 58, said she was jolted awake by a “very loud bang.” When she looked outside, she saw flames and rushed to assist. “The lad in the front” told her two others were also in the vehicle.

“We couldn’t believe what we were seeing,” Brew added.

Another neighbor, George Mickleburgh, 31, said:

“As soon as I heard the sound, I knew something serious had happened.”

He described seeing the car on its side, people outside the vehicle, and neighbors gathering to help.

Investigation Ongoing

Police have not yet released the identities of the victims. The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine the cause.
