🔴 TSUNAMI ADVISORY ISSUED FOR SOUTH ALASKA AND ALASKA PENINSULA AFTER MAGNITUDE 7.3 EARTHQUAKE

A Tsunami Advisory has been issued for parts of South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula following a powerful magnitude 7.3 earthquake that struck offshore on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
According to the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center, the earthquake occurred at 12:38 p.m. AKDT, with an epicenter located 55 miles south of Sand Point, Alaska, at a depth of approximately 12 miles.

Pacific coasts from Kennedy Entrance, AK to Unimak Pass, Alaska
Authorities are urging residents along the coastlines in these areas to remain alert, stay tuned to official updates, and avoid the shoreline until further notice. Although a tsunami advisory is less severe than a warning, strong and unusual currents are still expected and could be dangerous to swimmers, boaters, and people near the water.
