Video: Search Underway After Possible Water Emergency in Hudson River, NYPD Says

NEW YORK — A search operation is underway in the Hudson River following a report of a possible water emergency near Pier 53 in Lower Manhattan, according to the NYPD.
Authorities said a 911 call came in around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, alerting police to a person possibly in the water off West Street. Emergency responders, including the NYPD’s Harbor Unit and the FDNY, quickly launched a coordinated search effort by water and along the shoreline.
As of Thursday evening, officials have not confirmed whether anyone was located or rescued. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area as search efforts continue.
