Health Advisory Issued for Three Nassau County Beaches Due to Water Quality Concerns

Nassau County, NY – June 15, 2025 — Residents and beachgoers on Long Island are being urged to avoid swimming at three Nassau County beaches due to potential water contamination following recent heavy rainfall.

The Nassau County Department of Health has issued a bathing advisory for the following beaches:

  • Hewlett Point Beach in East Rockaway
  • Island Park Beach in Island Park
  • Philip Healey Beach in Massapequa

This advisory is a precautionary measure prompted by stormwater runoff from the recent rainfall, which can significantly raise bacteria levels in the water and pose potential health risks to swimmers.

Officials state the advisory will remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Monday, unless additional rain or water testing indicates ongoing elevated bacterial levels.

In addition, Biltmore Beach Club remains closed until further notice due to confirmed high levels of bacteria.
