Deaths have been confirmed in St. Lucie County on Florida’s Atlantic coast, where officials said tornadoes touched down. More than 2.85 million people in Florida were left without power.

A total of 19 tornadoes were recorded in different parts of the state. In some areas, a month’s worth of precipitation fell overnight, and the state of emergency continues due to the threat of flooding.

The US National Weather Service reported that the maximum sustained wind speed during the hurricane was 290 km/h. Hurricane Milton was classified as Category 5.
