MURDER-SUICIDE INVESTIGATION IN WEST GOSHEN TOWNSHIP

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the West Goshen Township Police Department announces the investigation into the death of two individuals who were found in a residence of West Goshen Township, Chester County on January 2, 2024.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on January 2, 2024, West Goshen Township Police Department responded to the 400 block of Hightop Road, West Goshen, for a request to check on the wellbeing of Derek Calzadillas, a 41-year old male who had not been heard from by relatives in over 24 hours.

Upon arrival police officers received no answer at the resident’s door, and observed a male through the window, lying unresponsive on the floor. Officers entered the home and summoned additional emergency medical services to the location. Goshen Fire Company, Goshen Ambulance, and Good Fellowship Ambulance and EMS also responded to the scene. The unresponsive person was identified as a resident, Kai O’Connor, 22, who was transported to Chester County Hospital by EMS and later pronounced dead.

Derek Calzadillas was found deceased in a closet inside the home. This investigation is currently being treated as a murder/suicide case; there is no danger to the community. It does not appear that firearms were involved in this incident.
