Video: A BART train derailed and caught fire in San Francisco

A train that derailed and caught fire shut down service at two East Bay BART stations Monday morning, causing major delays.

Around 9 a.m., the transit agency reported that an eastbound yellow line train partially derailed between Orinda and Lafayette stations just outside the Orinda station.

Two cars had caught fire but firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District extinguished the blazes.

Passengers have been safely evacuated from the train and were escorted to Orinda Station by BART personnel. Two people were injured in the derailment, the fire district said.

There is currently no available bus bridge but BART is working to see if partner bus agencies are available. There were major delays in both directions.

BART is currently advising passengers to seek alternative transportation.
