Alcohol a suspected factor in crash that killed man and his dog on Sam Jones Expressway

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating a fatal accident on the city’s southwest side.

According to a release from IMPD, officers responded to a serious crash on the Sam Jones Expressway near Interstate 465 that involved a sedan and a van. IMPD says the driver of the sedan was an adult male who was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

IMPD also says a dog that was riding in the sedan was also killed.

Multiple passengers were inside the van at the time of the crash. They had complaints of pain following the crash.

Police say a preliminary investigation shows the sedan likely crashed into the rear of the van. Alcohol is a suspected factor, according to IMPD.
