Strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake hits off Mexico’s Baja California

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 has struck off Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, seismologists say. Only few details were immediately available.
The earthquake, which struck at 1:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, was centered about 132 kilometers from La Rivera in Mexico.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.6. It struck about 33 kilometers below the seabed, making it a shallow earthquake.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there’s no threat of a tsunami.
