RCMP shut down Vernon’s Justice Park after suspicious device found

Vernon’s Justice Park

A suspicious device was discovered in Vernon’s Justice Park, Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., police located a suspicious device, situated in the northwest corner of 27th Street and 30th Avenue.

As a precaution, officers contacted the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) and decided the best course of action was for EDU to safely deal with the device.

While EDU is en-route, Justice Park is cordoned off with police tape to ensure the safety of the public.

Currently, two officers are on site, with most of the park taped off along with the rear parking lot behind Vernon Funeral Home.
