Woman Enters Closed Polling Place in Jefferson, Texas; Ballots Remain Secure

Police are investigating after a woman entered a closed polling place without authorization in Jefferson, Texas, while election workers were preparing ballots and equipment for transport Friday evening.

Jefferson police said the woman demanded to see what was happening inside the building at North Alley and Webster Street, then entered through another entrance and exchanged words with workers.

She left after being told police had been called and was gone before officers arrived. Police said the ballots remained secure and were not compromised.

Investigators are working with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office to evaluate possible Election Code violations and interference with election workers.
