Winfield, Alabama Police flooded with inquiries about new registry program

Winfield Police Chief Brett Burleson said more than 50 people have contacted the department about signing up for the Volunteer Special Needs Registry. He also said the Marion County EMA, the sheriff’s office and the Winfield Fire Department are also on board with the program.
Under the program, families share information with police about whether anyone at home has special needs, such as autism or dementia.
