New Warrants Reveal Details in Cobee Cooks’ Death in Atlanta, Georgia

Newly obtained arrest warrants say police found 4-year-old Cobee Cooks beneath a pile of clothes in a closet during a welfare check at an Atlanta, Georgia, townhome.
WSB-TV reported Friday that the warrants provide further details in the case against Jasmaine Smoak and Jasmine Jenkins, who face murder and child-cruelty charges. The Fulton County Medical Examiner determined that Cobee died from multiple blunt-force injuries.
Police said they located Smoak in Wilkes County with three other children, including Cobee’s 5-year-old brother, who had extensive bruising.
According to investigators, Jenkins had been staying with Smoak, and both women left the children at the home to go out. Detectives plan to obtain historical cellphone records to investigate their movements.
