B96 Closed Near Miltzow, Germany, After Truck Crash and Fuel Spill

A truck crash closed the B96 between the A20 motorway and the Miltzow interchange in northeastern Germany on Friday, October 30, with recovery work and traffic restrictions expected to continue until midday.
The articulated truck was heading toward Stralsund when it left the road and landed in a ditch around 3:45 a.m. Its 30-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police said briefly falling asleep at the wheel was a possible cause. Investigations are continuing.
Around 200 litres of fuel may have leaked into the ground. Firefighters from Süderholz and Grimmen responded, and environmental authorities were due to assess possible contamination during the morning.
A full closure has been required since approximately 7 a.m. for the recovery operation. Further traffic restrictions were expected afterward.
Police estimated the damage at €160,000.
