CDA Clinics and Former Director Hit With A$6.95 Million Penalties in Australia

Australia’s Federal Court has ordered CDA Clinics QLD to pay A$6.5 million in civil penalties for unlawfully advertising medicinal cannabis to the public.
Former director Dr Benjamin Jansen was separately ordered to pay A$450,000 for aiding and abetting the company’s conduct.
The court found that the advertisements promoted unapproved and prescription-only cannabis products, including claims concerning serious conditions such as cancer, seizures and autism.
Justice Collier said the company’s website, blog posts and Facebook posts formed part of a deliberate commercial strategy rather than isolated advertising breaches.
