Fire crews called for overheating lithium-ion battery at Londonderry facility – Daily Dispatch

Battalion Chief Bruce Hallowell said the battery, which had been powering a forklift, was in thermal runaway, a condition in which it was overheating and smoking. Hallowell said the workers at the facility on Mammoth Road took the battery outside while waiting for fire crews.

A battery in thermal runaway could spark a fire or explosion, Hallowell said.
