Records Reveal Emergency-Light Repairs Before Fatal Police Crash in Orlando, Florida

An Orlando police cruiser involved in the January crash that killed 92-year-old Millie Ortiz had previously undergone emergency-light repairs, according to maintenance records obtained by WFTV.
Repairs were recorded in 2020 and 2023. A September 2025 inspection found no fault with the reported switch-box issue.
The officer was cleared of criminal charges and wrongdoing in an internal investigation. The family’s $92 million lawsuit remains ongoing.
