Flood Recovery Funding Delays Leave Councils Waiting in Australia’s Northern Territory

Three Central Australian councils say they have struggled to access disaster recovery funding months after floods damaged roads and isolated communities, ABC News reports.
Barkly Regional Council’s application seeks A$4.3 million to A$4.7 million for repairs covering more than 30 roads and 127 damaged sites.
Federal Emergency Management Minister Kristy McBain acknowledged the delays and said a national task force was examining the system.
The Northern Territory government said claims from Barkly and Alice Springs remained under assessment.
