Bodesha Garner, 44, Arrested in Austin, Texas, in Retail Theft Investigation

Bodesha Garner, 44, was arrested in North Austin, Texas, on October 21 after being sought on outstanding warrants linked to an investigation into a series of high-value retail thefts, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police said Garner attempted to evade officers before being taken into custody. Alongside her outstanding warrants, she faces new charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle and deadly conduct.

The case dates back to May 8, when APD’s North Metro Tactical Unit received information about a purse theft at The Domain. Officers identified Garner as the suspect the following day, and an arrest warrant was issued. She was arrested on May 23.

Over the following months, police suspected Garner of involvement in further high-value thefts from retailers across Austin, leading to additional arrest warrants. In September, tactical officers began working with local retailers to locate her.

On September 17, officers found Garner driving in North Austin and attempted to stop her, but she refused to stop and evaded arrest, police said.

Officers encountered her again near a North Austin hotel on October 9. According to APD, she escaped another attempted stop by driving through two fences.

Garner was featured in Capital Area Crime Stoppers’ Wanted Wednesday on October 14, a week before officers located her again and took her into custody.
