Judge eyes house arrest for mother, son in state’s largest welfare scheme

A Hinds County judge says she plans to sentence Nancy and Zachary New to house arrest in connection with the state’s largest welfare fraud case. Nancy and Zachary New appeared before Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Faye Peterson on Tuesday morning for a status hearing.

The judge was frustrated that the mother and son have waited more than four years to be sentenced.
