Grocery Price Cap Questioned in Australia as McIntosh Warns of Small-Business Impact

Liberal MP Melissa McIntosh has questioned how a proposed cap on grocery prices would affect smaller businesses in Australia.

Speaking on ABC’s Afternoon Briefing on Thursday, McIntosh challenged Labor MP Ed Husic to explain how the proposal would work.

Husic told the ABC on Wednesday that price limits on essentials, including eggs, milk and bread, should be examined amid the cost-of-living crisis.

McIntosh argued that the government should focus on its spending, which she said was putting upward pressure on inflation and interest rates. She warned that the proposed intervention could hurt Australians.
