Southington and Farmington consider joint fire district

The Southington Volunteer Fire Department and the Farmington Township Fire Department are considering creating a joint fire district. Both departments have been struggling with staffing shortages, rising costs, and a growing number of calls.

The board of trustees for both departments met Wednesday evening to hear a proposal on how a joint fire district could benefit Southington and Farmington.
