Wood County school board hears safety officer, career training proposals

Jeremy Bell, director of safety and security, proposed placing the officers at Summit, Mineral Wells Elementary and Kanawha Elementary. The officers would be employed by Wood County Schools, unlike school resource officers employed by local law enforcement agencies.

The positions would provide a regular security presence at the district's alternative school and two outlying elementary schools, where distance can affect police response times.
