Worker Killed as Machinery Overturns During Roadworks in Valtopina, Italy

A young worker died after machinery overturned during road maintenance in Valtopina, in Italy’s Perugia province, ANSA reported Tuesday.

The worker was employed by a company contracted by the municipality. The roadworks had begun Monday.

According to the report, the machine may have been a road roller. Carabinieri are investigating the circumstances of the accident.

Valtopina Mayor Gabriele Coccia expressed condolences to the worker’s family and said the incident happened during roadworks near Santa Cristina.
