New Bern airport gets $750,000 federal grant to lure nonstop flights to Dulles

The airport was one of 14 nationwide to receive the grant and the only airport in North Carolina selected for the funding. Officials also say Washington is the most common location for second homes owned by people from the area.

Airport officials hope to partner with United Airlines to add two daily flights to Dulles, though no airline has officially committed to the route.
