13-year-old critically injured in Des Moines, Iowa mini-bike crash; SUV driver arrested for OWI

Des Moines police and fire crews responded just after 7 p.m. to the 3000 block of Southeast 19th Street. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

The boy was taken to UnityPoint Health–Blank Children's Hospital. Officers reported signs of potential impairment in the SUV driver, identified as 39-year-old Jose Santiago Vasquez Machado.
